Celebrate Arbor Day with a Tree Giveaway & Dinner on April 26

We welcome all members old and new along with their guests to the IKES on Wednesday, April 26th. It is our most popular program of the year, the annual tree seedling giveaway in honor of Arbor Day and Earth Day. The IKES have been giving away tree seedlings for over six decades!

Species this year are: American Arborvitae, Tulip Poplar, River Birch, and American Plum. We are delighted to offer the Indiana State tree, the Tulip Poplar. It is not a Tulip or a Poplar. See below for details. Most pioneer barns were constructed of Tulip Poplar beams. The barns that remain have beams so hard that they are nearly impenetrable, capable of wearing out diamond drill bits. Scope out your yard now and pre-dig your holes so you can give your trees a head start. This is yet another activity that benefits our community and members alike.

Dinner starts at 6:30 P.M. Tree handout starts at 7:30 P.M.
Menu: Polish chicken dinner with the trimmings
Cost: $9 adults, $6 for 12 and under

Call in your reservations by Mon. April 24th at 272-3660.

Can’t make the dinner on the 26th? Come tour open park day on Sunday, April 30th from 1-3 P.M. Get there early for best tree selection and take a quick tour.
